Terms of Use
Effective 26 October 2026.
These terms cover the DarkCast apps. DarkCast is run by Tom Selmes, an independent developer in the UK (“we”, “us”). Contact us at hello at darkcast dot app.
Licence
DarkCast is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These terms add to the Standard EULA. If they conflict, these terms apply, except where the Standard EULA protects Apple.
Subscriptions
Some DarkCast features need a subscription. DarkCast shows each subscription’s length and price before you buy it.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price then shown in DarkCast.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.
- Purchases, refunds and billing are handled by Apple under its own terms. Request refunds from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- If you’ve bought a subscription on another device using the same Apple Account, use Restore Purchases in DarkCast.
We may add, change or remove features, including which features need a subscription. If we raise a subscription’s price, Apple will tell you beforehand and, where the law requires, ask you to agree.
Podcasts
DarkCast plays podcasts from the services that publish them. We don’t own or control that content, and we aren’t responsible for it or for those services being available. Podcast search and details come from Apple’s podcast catalogue.
Transcripts, chapters, ad breaks and music that DarkCast finds are made automatically and may be wrong.
Shared Transcripts
If you turn on Shared Transcripts, you share transcripts you make with other DarkCast users and receive theirs. The privacy policy explains what is shared.
- You give us and other DarkCast users permission to store, show and use transcripts you share, for as long as they’re shared.
- Don’t use Shared Transcripts to share anything that isn’t a transcript of the episode, or to interfere with the service.
- We may remove any shared transcript, and stop any device from sharing, at any time and without notice.
- Shared transcripts come from other DarkCast users. We don’t check them by hand and can’t promise they’re accurate.
Your responsibilities
Use DarkCast only for lawful, personal listening. Respect the rights of podcast publishers, including when you export or share transcripts.
Liability
DarkCast is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses caused by DarkCast or by content you play in it, beyond the amount you paid for DarkCast in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under consumer law or liability that can’t be limited by law.
Ending these terms
You can stop using DarkCast at any time by deleting it. Cancel your subscription separately in your Apple Account settings. We may end your access to Shared Transcripts if you break these terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you also keep the protections of your local consumer law and can bring claims in your local courts.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
